Industry insider Tidux revealed on Twitter that Sony is planning to introduce long-awaited features to the PS4 that would include a wishlist/gifting feature on the PS Store, trophy progression, time log/stats for all games, and the ability to pin games on the dashboard. Given that all of the features mentioned in the leak are user interface related, it is not a long-shot for Sony to add them to the console, especially since most of those have been long-requested by PS4 owners.

Adding trophy progression in the system would allow players to easily keep track of the achievements that they are eyeing for in specific games, which would go hand-in-hand with the rumored game time log and stats feature. The possible inclusion of a gifting feature on the PS Store would also be a welcome addition to the console, given that players can finally purchase a game and simply send it to anyone in their friends list, which would also compliment the wishlist feature. Lastly, the ability to pin games on the dashboard would make it easier for PS4 owners to remember the games that they are still yet to complete, especially if they’ve put them off for some time.

Although the features mentioned above would drastically improve the user experience of PS4 users, it is still a mystery why Sony has put off adding them into the console, given that most of them are already available on Microsoft’s Xbox for quite some time now. Of course, given that Sony still hasn’t confirmed these features, it is best to treat them as speculation for now, but hopefully, Sony adds them anyway especially if it wants to prolong the PS4’s lifespan.

If Sony does update the PS4 with all of these features, the question now is if they will also be available by default on the company’s next-generation console, which is estimated to release in a year or two. As of the moment, the only confirmed features of the PS5 are its hardware specs, with the exception of backward compatibility to the PS4, which is also a highly-requested feature from fans.
