The news was broken by NeoGAF, who posted Sony’s recent financial report which reveal the gigantic figures. It’s safe to say that the Japanese company has had a strong Q1 2015 fiscal year.
Shipments of the console crossed 3 million from April 1st until June 30th alone, which is a boost compared to last year’s result of 2.7 million units during the same time.
The brilliant result has compelled Sony to hike its forecast for the shipments. Sony now expects to ship 16.5 million PS4 consoles by the end of March 31st, 2016.
Shipping over 38 million units by next March now seems like a high possibility. The company could also aggressively market the device in China after the country lifted its 15 year ban on the sale of video games.
