In their decisions on the Olympic Stadium’s use after the summer games this year, the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) has received a proposal to make the complex host for the London Grand Prix. Bernie Ecclestone has been dreaming about a Grand Prix in London for some time, but encountered too many logistical problems. The Olympic Park could be the solution.

The LLDC has let on that the Formula 1 proposal was one of four accepted for consideration. According to reports, Intelligent Transport Solutions Ltd (a company in east-London) is behind the bid and Bernie Ecclestone had so far nothing to do with it though he supports the idea.

Ecclestone commented: “This is a firm that happened to be bidding for use of the stadium, not to own it. They came up with a scheme whereby Formula 1 would race around the stadium, inside it, outside it. They wanted to make sure I would be interested.”
