Sony published its Q1 financial results here recently, where Sony reported a total number of PS Plus subscribers at 46.3 million. Compared to the two most recent quarters, this means over 1 million PS Plus subscriptions have been lost. According to data collated on Resetera, this is the first time these two quarters have seen such a massive dip and decline in 8 years. Furthermore, there was a decline in monthly active users (those who played games on the PS network) of 10 million year-over-year in June 2021....

That could be sooner than expected. As spotted by Push Square, a photo uploaded to Twitter by user TheBatMan shows the PS Store page for Resident Evil 3, with a PS5 upgrade seemingly available. This has caused many to post their excitement about the possibility that the next-gen port will be rolling out soon. It could also mean that an Xbox Series version is just on the horizon, as well....

With the PS5 now out worldwide, it’s no surprise that fans are ready for a PS VR2 headset to go with the new home console. Sony has now shared the design, controllers, and specs of the hardware, which will go on sale this February – but will cost more than a PS5 itself. In the meantime, the existing PSVR headset still works with the PlayStation 5, though owners have to request a free adapter to connect the camera to the system....

The problem, analyzed by Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry, comes from technical differences in the original versions of the games. Using San Andreas as an example, the (North American) NTSC code version of the game runs at 30FPS as default, but the (European) PAL code version of the game has a base framerate of 25FPS and the PS4 emulator uses frame-blending to bump the game up to 30FPS. As a result, the game suffers from “slowdown”, “some frame-pacing issues” as well as a “judder”, and the publication explains that the frame blending makes the game look like it has “unique frames” but in actual fact “they are simply the interpolated results of two image”....

Among those features is Sony’s subscription service — the next evolution of PlayStation Plus. While most assume that PS Plus will appear very much in the same iteration it is available now, that might not be the case. According to Shuhei Yoshida, the PS4’s version of PS Plus could come in a tiered form, not unlike what Microsoft offers with its Xbox Live service. Yoshida wouldn’t give concrete details, as it’s likely that Sony is mulling over how best to implement the service, but he did mention “gold, silver, and platinum levels” of membership....

The best part about the PS4 is that it is much smaller than the size of the Xbox One and so is handy and easy to move. This is the right one to choose if you have are planning for something that fits in less space. The PS4 unlike the Xbox One incorporates its own power supply which makes it much lighter. If you are looking for something that is cheap then this one is for you, PS4 is significantly cheaper than the Xbox One as it does not have Camera accessory bundled....

Uploading the trailer to Reddit recently, user u/Lyingcat_Cosplay was able to show off what the fan film based on The Last of Us is currently looking like. Called Project Spores, the short video is full of quick cuts and high octane action, briefly showing the main characters and one or two infected inspired by the game. The Columbus Dispatch reported that House Bill 413 would only allow abortions after a fetal heartbeat has been detected—around Week 6, during the embryonic stage of pregnancy—if the life of the woman is in danger, and the penalties for performing one under other circumstances would be either life imprisonment or death. Robert Jones spent nearly two dozen years in prison after being convicted in 1996 of rape and robbery. Despite having maintained his innocence during the trial, Jones pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the killing of British tourist Julie Stott. “I welcome this measure of justice after so many years,” Jones, 48, community outreach director for Orleans Public Defenders, said in a statement released through his attorneys.
